This is an excellent spot to dwell upon the Barroso rural landscape. We were also able to glimpse in the distance the Paradela reservoir and the peaks of the Gerês mountains. Nearer to us stand out the lacework of water-meadows and cultivated fields forming at patchwork with broadleaf woods, all combining to create a habitat rich in biodiversity and where, during spring, beautiful wild orchids can be seen as well as the trumpet narcissus, St.Joseph’s wand, arnica and centáureas. This is typical of the kind of landscape encountered around the Barroso villages situated along the Cávado River.
