Cávado River

Fiães do Rio, Montalegre

We crossed the Cávado River on an old wooden bridge which was built by the National Park services. The river runs on its natural bed here forming a strip of riparian vegetation with the presence of willow and oak. The flow rate and force of water vary widely between seasons, and the river can carry huge amounts of water in periods of heavy rainfall.
