In the area surrounding Quintão, overlooking the river Homem, are found the well maintained and level fields where traditional mixed arable farming is practiced alongside animal husbandry. The individual farmed plots are interrupted here and there with small oak copses, watercourses and even scrub in some places, creating overall a patchwork of habitats that have a rich biodiversity.
