The stage reaches its highest level at this point at about 1100 meters altitude. Here the main feature is a mixed woodland dominated by pine and birches, species perfectly adapted to this altitude. These woods, especially in areas largely covered by low scrub and rocky outcrops, are of great importance to many species of fauna because of the shelter and food they provide.
