The small chapel of Tibo was built in the late 17th century through the determination and goodwill of the inhabitants of the village. At the time, there was no building in the village where the sacraments could be administered. The inhabitants were obliged to attend mass in the Parish church, the Church of the Savior in Gavieira, more than a league from the village. So they pledged to build a chapel in Tibo, where the local residents could have decent conditions to attend mass and make offerings to God.
