Largo do Eiró, in the centre of Pitões das Júnias has all the attributes of once being the focal point of the village and apparently still functions as such. It is here that we find the Parish Council office, where the mail is delivered, some cafes where people gather together and socialise and the fountain and drinking font for animals. This open space works more or less as a reference point from where several streets start and present opportunities to visit various pointa of the village. From here we can visit the communal oven, the old Corte do Boi (Bull’s byre) which is currently used as a nucleus of the Barroso Ecomuseum, the Church of St. Rosendo, the Monastery of Santa Maria das Júnias or even to set out to discover the mountains.
