Adjacent to Bico de Pássaro Forestry House is a woodland area with Scots pine, the only autochthonous pine species of the Peneda-Gerês National Park (PNPG). Some of the specimens here are the remaining product of the forestry service plantations, from the time when the area was subject to the state forestry regime. Unlike the maritime pine and the umbrella pine, the Scots pine is adapted to cold climates and therefore occurs at higher altitudes in the PNPG, usually above 700m, as the case here.
