Podre inverneira is located very close to Assureira, the two forming almost a single population group, separated by only a few meters of cultivated fields, pastures and a small oak wood.

It is a very small place, made up by about a dozen dwellings, where the signs of depopulation and the abandonment of using these winter quarters are plain to see. In fact demographic and socio-economic transformation, especially in relation to the abandoning of agricultural activity, has been dramatically evidenced in the inverneiras, which little by little cease to be occupied by their seasonal inhabitants as many families choose to improve their houses in the brandas and make these their permanent home.

Still, no such destiny can remove the beauty of these places. Due to their setting in the surrounding landscape, biodiversity, their architectural heritage and unique culture and history, the inverneiras will always be very special places.
