We are in a flat area which receives water from the Perdiz stream which has its source near Louriça, the highest point of the Serra Amarela. This stream forms part of the Porto river, below the bridge which then flows down towards the Froufe river, a tributary of the river Lima.

In the highest areas of the mountains it is within this type of hollow and ravines that small tree copses form, these providing an important refuge for wildlife.
