View over the Froufe river valley

Ermida, Ponte da Barca

This is an excellent viewpoint over the Froufe river valley. Upstream we can see the headwaters, where the springs that feed the Froufe occur in an area of gentle relief. On the contrary, in front of us and downstream of this viewpoint the river winds along in a deep valley between precipitous slopes. On the downstream slope, terraces of the extensive farmed area around Ermida stand out, an area that we will see more closely at the end of the walk.

From this spot we can also identify some of the main peaks of the Serra Amarela. On the opposite slope, to the Northeast, Alto do Couto (839 meters) and Alto de Cerqueira (796 meters) stand out. To the southeast we can see Louriça, the highest point in these mountains.
