The hamlet of Vilar de Suente lies within the parish of Soajo. It is strategically located halfway up a hillside, in a sheltered spot exposed to the south and alongside water courses. The nucleus of dwellings grew up on uncultivated land leaving free areas with more fertile soils for the small-scale agriculture practiced by the community. The farmed meadows, arranged in terraces, are situated contiguous to the nucleus of dwellings, forming a mosaic with the wooded areas of oak copses. In the settlement with its surrounding meadows we can see the traditional architecture of its oldest building, its espigueiros as well as other rural buildings.
An old track, now adopted by the GR50, provides the link between Vilar de Suente and Soajo, passing through the hamlets of Souto and Bairros.
